About this tour

Above the few things that come to Your mind while thinking about Sarajevo is, of course, the war in the 90’s. When speaking about the war, we cannot skip the Tunnel of Hope and the fact that this was the longest siege in modern warfare. The story actually begins back in Jugoslavian country, which unfortunately started falling apart after Tito’s death. The war in Bosnia was an important topic back in 1990’s all over the world, and since the war was completely unexpected and confusing (mostly because media could not report objectively) our guests want to learn more and hear personal experiences.
In cca two hours of this tour we try to create a complete picture of historical events, political circumstances and survival. On the way to the Tunnel, our guides will give You an introduction, show You Sniper Alley, memorial to brutally murdered children, and other important war related objects. When we get to the whole complex of the Museum, You will get to stand in front of big map of Sarajevo under the siege and get complete picture about where the Tunnel is located and to hear about its stories. After details Your tour guide will introduce to You, be ready to see the 17-minute long movie about the siege and about the Tunnel. Unfortunately, small part of the country is still covered with mines, so the example of the minefield will be shown to You before You enter inside the Museum to see usual exhibition. Before going back to city, You will get to walk in the tunnel for 25m, saved as it was originally, to experience the struggle. Dug by ingenious and brave citizens of Sarajevo, the tunnel was the only entrance and exit of the occupied city, and represented hope and strength of its people. Tunnel gave desperate people opportunity to get some food, medical supplies and save severely injured civilians and soldiers.
